AN INDEPENDENT LOOK
Goethe enters the bar having taken a wrong turn on the autobahn.
GOETHE: Hello Mr. Hogarth, hello Mr. Walpole. Mr. Hogarth I must say that I rather admire your serpentine line but I think you’ve missed the point. The perfect work of art or indeed beauty seems to me to be the work of nature.
Mr. Hogarth is taken aback
GOETHE: If I look at your line of beauty for long enough all I seem to see is a question mark.
Goethe leaves the bar.
